7. Beauty and the teeth

The rather slow and grey days of my childhood
Were enlighted by here presence of my illness
Was enlightned by her laughter
She was so fine, she was so warm
Her beauty was so majestic and great
She had the face of an angel of hope to me
It was so heavenly and pale

Berenice give me your teeth
Berenice, please

Then she got ill and faded fast
Her beauty turned into sickening ugliness
While her state of mind got worse and worse
I was in the worst of states myself
All that remained of her heavenly beauty was
A set of teeth in her glorious mouth
32 gorgious, precious little tombstones
laughed at me in a horny horror

How obsessed I was, by what she possessed
But what caused awful state of shock?
What was it that frightened me so much?
Was it the voice of my dear conscience?
The smell of wet clothes covered with mud?
The feel of wet hands covered with blood?
Or is it the sight of that precious little box
That just fell from the table to the floor???

Yet another album I’m addicted to. This is definitely one of my favorite NWOTHM releases. It reminds me of being a teenager and discovering Iron Maiden. Love the sci-fi themes. Sludge Mouf

So I can't leave a long enough review to say everything I want. But I will say this, I love this EP. It's a great little follow up to times, and has just enough of a dynamic shift in sound to prove that Smoulder isn't a one trick pony with their first album's formula. This one really plays up the 70s prog aspects (DUST and Manilla Road influences definitely shine through even harder here). It's still Smoulder, don't get me wrong. Just a different side in some ways, all of which are good. playfulpooka
